ALLISON STREET, GLASGOW
We were delighted to announce the news of our new partnership with Southside Housing Association in 2019. We were given the green light to build a ‘cycle-friendly’ development in Allison Street, Govanhill. The development is located adjacent to the route of the proposed South West Way, a walking and cycle-friendly corridor running from Queens Park to the City Centre. We will be creating 49 flats for Southside Housing Association to include a commercial unit. The development will offer no allocated car parking spaces and tenants will have to commit to being car-free, this aligns with the Scottish Government’s and Glasgow City Council policies and initiatives for sustainable development and travel. The site has high public transport accessibility and is located within walking distance of multiple amenities. The lack of allocated car parking bays and increased cycle storage should promote sustainable and active travel.
BRAEHEAD, BONHILL
AS Homes Scotland’s first collaboration with Caledonia Housing Association and hopefully just the beginning of a flourishing new partnership. AS Homes Scotland were detailed with developing 49 new homes in the Braehead area of Bonhill, on the former grounds of Highdykes Primary School, an area which has lain derelict for the last 4 years.
Interestingly from the old playground a glimpse of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond can be seen. The River Leven can also be seen in the distance winding its way through Alexandria. The development will see a selection of cottage flats as well as terraced homes. Characterised by modern design our homes are created for enhanced family living and built using the highest quality eco-friendly and sustainable materials which the tenants will benefit from considerably and continuously. The development will also feature a wide array of open space and a children’s play area for the local families.
Planning officers told councillors: “The development provides much needed affordable housing at an appropriate location. The proposed redevelopment of the site for residential purposes is in compliance with the Adopted and Proposed local plans and would assist in the further regeneration of this area of Bonhill. The proposals have been subject to extensive discussions which have resulted in a high-quality development with a strong integration of green infrastructure, connectivity, open space and sustainable drainage.”
Works began in January 2020.
FERGUSLIE PARK, PAISLEY
Following on from our recent and successful collaboration with Sanctuary Housing at our award-winning development in Love Street, Paisley we are now pleased to confirm the news of a new partnership in Renfrewshire.
Commissioned by Renfrewshire Council we can confirm the development of 101 new, affordable homes in Paisley within the old St Fergus Primary School’s grounds. We are delighted to play a part in the continuing regeneration of Paisley allowing us to showcase the quality of our homes whilst creating enhanced communities for the local ‘buddies’.
Councillor Marie McGurk, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s communities, housing and planning policy board, said, “This investment will ensure people can access homes they are proud to live in as we look to create positive, thriving communities throughout the area.”
